Melco Resorts is donating HK$20 million to support government-led initiatives in Wuhan and Hubei to combat the spread of the new coronavirus. The money will be used to purchase medical supplies, including face masks and hand sanitizers, and support the local community.
Lawrence Ho, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Melco Resorts, said, “Our thoughts are with the people of Wuhan and Hubei, and all those who are impacted by the new strain of the coronavirus. We hope this donation helps accelerate the preventive measures to contain the spread of the virus. Melco fully supports the Government’s initiatives to contribute to the health and wellbeing of those affected in the community.”
A Melco spokesperson said the company has been following government guidelines on specific preventive measures throughout its properties and had taken immediate measures, including heightened monitoring and frequent disinfection to prevent the spread of the virus. The company has already cancelled public events and previously announced that it had deferred all non-essential business travel for staff.
