Zhuhai’s Natural Resources Bureau has approved the transfer of a land parcel in Hengqin to the Macau government for the construction of the “Macau New Neighborhood” project.
With a land premium of 534.8006 million yuan, the project will focus on building an integrated community set in an open, green environment. It is mentioned in the Greater Bay Area masterplan as a special district that will provide elderly care, housing, health, education and medical treatment for Macau residents.
The two governments have already set up a task force and held several meetings to discuss the project site selection, development principles, land supply methods, bidder qualifications, property disposal methods, and how Macau health, education, community services and other public welfare facilities will operate in Hengqin.
After the project is completed, it is expected to provide 3,800 housing units for Macau residents at below-market prices. SCN
