Guangdong has reported a solitary new case of COVID-19 for a second day, in Dongguan, while Hong Kong had three and Macau had none. Guangdong has managed to keep its new infection figure at single digits this week, with only 10 reported in total since Sunday, according to the Guangdong Health Commission. As many as 664 out of the province’s 1,333 confirmed cases have already left hospital. The nationwide number of new infections, however, jumped to 889 yesterday. But that was primarily due to outbreaks in prisons, in Hubei, Zhejiang and Shandong.
As the epidemic subsides and work resumes across Guangdong, the authorities have started to shut down the numerous checkpoints that were set up across the province’s transport network to conduct temperature checks and intercept returnees from Hubei. Read more (in Chinese) on Nanfang Daily.
