Galaxy Entertainment Group has announced the donation of 1 million masks to the Macau SAR Government, Zhuhai City Government, and Hengqin New Area Government.
The first 250,000 of the Macau masks were handed over today to Ao Ieong Iu, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, while another 250,000 will be delivered to the Macau government later in the week. Meanwhile, 500,000 have already been given to representatives of the Zhuhai and Hengqin governments.
The facemask donations follow Galaxy Entertainment Group’s previous donations and efforts to fight the COVID-19 virus, which include a MOP20 million donation to Hubei, the province at the epicentre of the outbreak, and a MOP5 million donation to the Macau community. In addition, the group has launched a subsidy scheme that targets young children by providing a one-off subsidy of MOP30,000 to over 30 local schools and a one-off subsidy of MOP2,000 to children registered at Macau’s 20 nongovernment subsidized nurseries.
Galaxy had also donated disinfection and hygiene products to the Women’s General Association of Macau, the General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau and the Fuhong Society of Macau, while prevention items such as surgical masks were also delivered to 40 elderly users of Peng On Tung Tele-Assistance Service before the Chinese New Year.
The company said in a statement: “GEG will continue to stay in close contact with our different community stakeholders and work together with the community in the prevention efforts against the COVID-19.”
GEG staff hand over the mask donation to representatives of the Zhuhai and Hengqin governments, which included: Yan Wu, Vice Mayor of Zhuhai; Xiao Shiming, Executive Vice President of Red Cross Society of Zhuhai; Li Weihui, Deputy Party Secretary of Hengqin; Huang Yujie, Director of Macau Affairs Bureau of Hengqin; and Zhu Ziqin, Director of Social Affairs Bureau of Hengqin.
