COVID-19 recoveries are rapidly climbing in Guangdong, while only two new infections were reported across the entire province yesterday. The confirmed cases, one each in Guangzhou and Dongguan, took the province’s total to 1,347, according to the Guangdong Health Commission. So far, 805 patients have left hospital, with 33 discharged on Monday alone.
A new death was recorded Monday in Guangzhou, an 82-year-old man who arrived in the city from Wuhan on January 15, bringing the death toll in the GBA to nine.
In Hong Kong, seven new cases were confirmed on Monday. Four were evacuees from the quarantined Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan. Among the city’s total of 81, 19 patients have been discharged, according to the city’s Centre for Health Protection.
The nationwide number of new infections outside Hubei (which reported 499 yesterday), was brought down to single digits yesterday, at nine, down two from the previous day’s 11. Of the total 77,658 infections, around one-third have been discharged.
