This year’s MIF invited Cape Verde and Jiangsu Province to act as “partner countries” and “partner provinces” respectively, and cooperated with Macao-China-Portugal trade cooperation service platform to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the parties, with remarkable results.
During the exhibition, Cape Verde Investment and Export Promotion Bureau Chairman Ana Lima Barber accepted an interview with Macau Inc. She said that Cape Verde led nearly 40 government and business delegations, including 22 private companies, a significant increase over the previous period. The bureau set up a 180-square-meter “Cape Verde Theme Pavilion” to introduce Cape Verde’s investment environment, investment policies, tourism, and marine economic projects.
Barber said that Cape Verde is made up of 10 islands. Each event has representatives from companies involved in the business, beauty, catering and other industries. Macao is a platform for China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and the delegation attaches great importance to MIF and PLPEX. It hopes to establish mutual partnerships through activities, develop new markets, attract investors to invest in the local industry, and promote deep cooperation between the parties, such as in tourism and renewable energy.
When talking about the economic and trade exchanges between China and Cape Verde, Barber emphasized that the two countries have launched cooperative efforts in education, health, renewable energy and the marine economy. China has helped Cape Verde cultivate many talents. It is hoped that we will work together to develop new industries and deepen exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields such as tourism, education and investment, trade and service industries, and attract more Chinese enterprises to invest in Cape Verde. She said that Cape Verde is the gateway to Africa and plays an active role in China’s Belt and Road Initiative. It also hopes to integrate into China’s development process. Cape Verde hopes to attract exchanges and cooperation in a wider range of fields with an open attitude.
Meanwhile, Zhang Songping, deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Jiangsu Province, said in an interview that Jiangsu Province set up a 300-square-meter “Jiangsu Provincial Theme Pavilion” and led 12 companies to exhibit local intangible cultural heritage projects, featured crafts and smart technology, and other advantageous industries.
He said that Jiangsu Province has held the “Jiangsu-Macau-Portuguese-Speaking Countries Business Summit” in Macao for eight consecutive years, effectively promoting deep-seated exchanges and cooperation between Jiangsu and Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries. The 9th Jiangsu-Macau-Portuguese-language Business Summit and Jiangsu-Macau-Cape Verde Cooperation Forum held during the MIF will bring together the political and business circles of the three places to exchange economic and trade environment, investment policies and advantageous resources.
During the exhibition, the “Macau International Cultural Art and Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition”, “Jiangsu-Macau-Cape Verde Children’s Painting Exhibition” and the Jiangsu Hairy Crab Special Promotion Conference were held to promote the richness of Jiangsu in various fields and forms.
Zhang Songping said that over the past few years, Jiangsu Province and Macao have established close economic and trade cooperation, raised the level of bilateral trade, and consolidated the basis of cooperation through a series of activities, and the scope of cooperation has been expanding. In the future, Jiangsu Province will actively and effectively promote deep and pragmatic exchanges and cooperation with Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries through the effective channel of MIF platform.
