As Longines Ambassador of Elegance, Simon Baker perfectly reflects its claim that “Elegance is an attitude”.
he 170th Prix de Diane Longines was held recently in Chantilly, France. As the Title Partner, Official Timekeeper and designated timepieces of the event for the ninth consecutive year, the Swiss watch brand Longines presented nine thrilling races.
Simon Baker, as the brand’s Ambassador of Elegance, handed out stunning Longines timepieces for prize-winning jockeys, horse owners and horse trainers, highlighting the profound bond that Longines has built with the event. Baker also presented an elegant Record Collection timepiece to Abigail Lopez-Cruz as the winner of “Mademoiselle Diane by Longines” and the most elegantly dressed lady at the racecourse. On the eve of the races, in the splendid gardens of Château de Chantilly, Longines held a special event to celebrate the launch of Record Collection.
There, Baker appeared together with fellow brand Ambassador of Elegance, Hollywood superstar Kate Winslet. Winslet wore the elegant stainless steel bracelet timepiece in rose gold together with Baker. Getting up close and personal with Baker, the watch is indeed a stunner. Its trendy and elegant metal sun-pattern dial is decorated with 12 pink hands, and its L888.4 self-winding mechanical movement including a single-crystal silicon balance-spring with unique properties ensuring the accurate timing .
The stainless steel and rose gold model work together to make an elegant and excellent timepiece. Baker said that he liked the elegant yet strong style of the watch, as it matched the occasion of the event they were attending. The whole Longines Record Collection were certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), he noted. It combines classical elegant design and superior quality, and guarantees outstanding performance with superb precision. Baker, who has been nominated for Golden Globes and Emmys, is an Australian actor with a long list of impressive performances in films and TV series.
He was critically acclaimed for his role as Christian Thompson alongside Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt in the film The Devil Wears Prada. But probably his most high-profile role was as Patrick Jane in the hugely successful TV drama The Mentalist, which saw him nominated for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series at the Emmy Awards and for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Dramatic Television Series in the Golden Globe Awards.
In 2012, Baker starred in the thriller Margin Call, alongside Jeremy Irons and Kevin Spacey, which tells the story of a key figure in an investment bank during the financial crisis that broke out in early 2008. His latest role, as Ambassador of Elegance for Longines since 2012, suits him well. Baker says this is because he can identify with Longines’ brand concept “Elegance is an attitude”.
